Love
Love moves
to the music
in my head
A slow dance
across the floor
Oblivious
to the world
as we glide on
wings of silk and satin
Love blooms
like a flower
in my eyes
Borne of summer
sunshine and springtime rain
Unfolding pedals
spread a crimson vision
of bright vibrant passion
Love permeates
my sense of smell
A wholesomeness
in the sweet aroma
of baking apples
in the kitchen
on a brisk Sunday
afternoon
Love reacts
to my touch
A pleasant pressing
of your lips to mine
The sensefilled shudder
of your body
encased
within the splendor
of desire
Love is savored
A familiar taste
on the tip
of your tongue
A fine wine
that stimulates
the palate
and warms
the soul
Love is
in the sound
of your voice
A whisper
in my ear
“I love you”

Beginning
Strolling through the seagulls cry
Approaching ocean’s door
A salty breeze blows sweetly
As waves caress the shore
Beneath bare feet
Cool calming sand
Our heart’s are beating
Hand-in-hand
A blanket spread before us
Together we lie down
Concern but for the moment
As we watch our troubles drown
Though darkened clouds are growing
Ominously overhead
And rain descends upon us
Nothing do I dread
For still the beach is glowing
As I lie there mesmerized
By endless smiles of laughter
And sunlight in your eyes

Words
Words enlighten
Words enrage
Stops the presses
Turns the page
Words hate
Words destroy
Killing a spirit
Malicious employ
Words love
Words caress
Captures a smile
Held in distress
Words heal
Words save
Releases a conscience
Freeing a slave
Within the gray line
Between black and white
The words you choose
To build or smite
Sets the stage
To flee or fight
To find forgiveness
Or flex your might
A heart that’s broken
Instead takes flight

Beginnings
A moment etched upon my mind
The time of our retreat
I hardly knew you at the start
I loved you when complete
Trapped within assembled masses
Anxious to be alone
A lifetime waiting for the chance
To steal away on our own
Sunshine fills the cabin room
Our endless conversation
Angelic face in palmer’s kiss
You hold my adoration
Through the forest hand-in-hand
The birds chirp and sing
Sharing our first awkard kisses
Feeling Cupid’s sting
A swim together in the lake
Alone in time and space
Holding you within my arms
Floating in embrace
As darkness falls around us
Your smile lights up the room
Liquid-brown eyes hold me fast
My devotions they consume
You’ve touched me like no one before
I’ve quietly acquiesced
A friend, a lover, so much more
My soul at last is blessed
Finally, the weekend had to end
Time can’t be outrun
Finding ‘You and I’ had parted
‘We’ had just begun
A quiet moment bittersweet
A last touch of our hands
Anticipation of tomorrow
As our love expands

Love of Song
My spirit finds itself renewed
In the kinship of a song
Answers to my questions posed
Hidden for so long
Flood into my consciousness
And help to make me strong
An interesting turn-of-phrase
Beyond normal convention
Bends the mind toward new thinking
The soul begins ascension
Insight the final destination
And the poet’s sole intention
So much can we learn today
Peace is soon at hand
If we only stop to listen
To the music of the band
Their words can bring enlightenment
And our problems they’ll remand
Heartaches will soon dissipate
Healing can begin
A forgiveness freely given
Will release you from your sin
If within a melody
You find yourself akin
Do you see this in your life?
Can you feel my passion?
These thoughts and their appeal
Will not fall out of fashion
From this world you’ll find escape
And within your heart, compassion
So, come with me this very day
It’s time to move along
Let the rhythm fill your soul
You’ll find where you belong
Within these words my dedication
For the true love of a song

Troubled Soul
My heart seeks companionship
Can I no longer love?
Reluctance holds me in it’s grip
Distrust fitting like a glove
What have you done to me?
Stop fucking with my mind
In your wake of misery
My heart left undefined
You’ve left my heart in desolation
With your torrid web of lies
In these words an accusation
This work is my emprise
Have you ever been aware?
My sanity you stole
Your web holds within it’s snare
My heart, my mind, my soul
I find this lover’s trinity
Can’t seem to come to terms
For one I share affinity
Is dead…left for the worms
My mind stands before me
A gauntlet, my protection
I’m begging now to be set free
Grant love’s resurrection
Alas, my heart remains imprisoned
Until this trial is through
My heart receives a new commission
That plainly comes to view…
I hate you!

The Kiss
The poem stirs emotion
Your hand is on my chin
Lifting my head from the page
This kiss our lips begin
A soft passionate pleasure
Our heads are tilted opposite
The kiss blossoms, quickly grows
Desire becomes composite
Our embrace pulls you closer
Your arms around my neck
Fingers glide through my hair
My hands explore your back
The kiss takes on a frenzy
Increasing in it’s power
Our hearts are beating frantically
Our will to soon devour
The kiss slows and soon subsides
Contentment present in our sighs
The glowing reflection of my smile
Shining brightly in your eyes

The Dance
Beneath the moon I dance and spin
To the music of a quiet night
Our dance hasn’t waited to begin
Though we are out of sight
Within my arms I hold you
A vapor though you are
Your face has slowly come to view
Your eyes within a star
Your smile reflects the moonlight
Your laughter fills my ears
This moment is my heart’s delight
Happiness in my tears
Plush grass beneath my feet
You’re there in my mind’s eye
This moment in time is bittersweet
A longing in my sigh
Are you there where I am now?
Holding on to air
Soon substance will endow
An end to solitaire
Knowing that you dance with me
This time is not futile
If I’m with you, ’tis plain to see
This moment is worthwhile
Gracious is this dance we’ve shared
Together across the miles
A romance as yet undeclared
Is reflected in our smiles

The Sun Through Canopied Leaves
The sun through canopied leaves
Presses gently on our skin
Your hand in mine a tender touch
A promise of love or sin?
Your eyes hold seductive promise
Parted lips accept a kiss
Within the moist and heated womb
Our tongues entwine and twist
Hands on flesh, sensuous touch
Exploring, move about
A gentle shudder, tiny gasps
Desire, our bodies shout
Arms embrace, hair askew
We fall onto the ground
In passion’s hand we acquiesce
Revel in the love we’ve found
Hurried hands in frenzied motion
Quickly we’re undressed
To passion’s splendor we succumb
Inhibitions soon repressed
Bodies writhe in pleasant pain
Our wills cannot resist
Heaving breath and blood-spot soil
A climax to our tryst
Quiet kisses, gentle laughter
Our smiles reflect fatigue
Above the stars begin to shine
The sun sets on intrigue
Beneath the stars we fall asleep
Slaves to love’s great powers
Bathed within a moonlit glow
Wrapped in the scent of flowers
