The Dance

Beneath the moon I dance and spin
To the music of a quiet night
Our dance hasn’t waited to begin
Though we are out of sight

Within my arms I hold you
A vapor though you are
Your face has slowly come to view
Your eyes within a star

Your smile reflects the moonlight
Your laughter fills my ears
This moment is my heart’s delight
Happiness in my tears

Plush grass beneath my feet
You’re there in my mind’s eye
This moment in time is bittersweet
A longing in my sigh

Are you there where I am now?
Holding on to air
Soon substance will endow
An end to solitaire

Knowing that you dance with me
This time is not futile
If I’m with you, ’tis plain to see
This moment is worthwhile

Gracious is this dance we’ve shared
Together across the miles
A romance as yet undeclared
Is reflected in our smiles

  1. This poem is really good. The meaning, the flowing.
